About Islam
What Is Islam?
Islam means “peace” and “submission to God.” Muslims believe in one God (Allah), respect all prophets, and try to live with compassion, honesty, and service. Below are the core beliefs and practices—explained simply.
The Five Pillars of Islam
- Shahada (الشهادة) — Declaration of faith: “There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is His messenger.”
- Salah (الصلاة) — Prayer five times daily to stay connected with God.
- Zakat (الزكاة) — Annual charity to support those in need.
- Sawm (الصوم) — Fasting in Ramadan to build self-discipline and empathy.
- Hajj (الحج) — Pilgrimage to Makkah once in a lifetime, if able.
